Creating Scholarship Opportunities

EVENTS

GOLF OUTING

On March 31, 1988, nineteen men and women met to create the Newark Athletic Hall of Fame. The initial purpose was to focus attention on Newark’s “glorious athletic past and it’s bright future”.

It is with this goal in mind that we inaugurated this golf outing to enable us to increase our scholarship awards to deserving student-athletes. The Female and Male Scholar-Athlete’s awards are presented annually in October at the Annual Awards Dinner honoring and enshrining inductees into the Newark Athletic Hall of Fame.

The organization recreates the past accomplishments of Newark athletes and projects the Newark Athletic Hall of Fame (NAHF) inductees as positive role models for Newark youth. The NAHF’s intention is to inspire hope for the future of Newark youth by creating a positive situation where friendships, camaraderie and memories of past Newark days can be renewed. The final objective was to create and present scholarships to worthy student athletes who achieved success in athletics and life. Recipients of the Hall of Fame awards include former professional, collegiate and amateur athletes.
